SAT Linear Inequalities study notes
Solve an inequality much like an equation, but keep its direction in mind. Adding or subtracting leaves the sign alone. Multiplying or dividing by a negative reverses it. If a question asks how many integers fit, write the interval first and then count.
Worked example
Solve −3x + 5 < −7.
Subtract 5 to get −3x < −12. Divide by −3 and reverse the sign: x > 4. Test x = 5: −15 + 5 = −10, which is less than −7.
